My motto is:
"I give your brain hugs not drugs, I provide skills not pills." I have been providing mental health care for over 20 years and have been a Licensed Psychologist in California with my own practice since 2003. Using a wide range of evidence-based therapeutic techniques and strategies tailored for each patient, I believe that given the right skills and tools, people are more capable and powerful than they often feel. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Integrative Psychology, EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and utilization of Eco-psychology (getting out in nature via Walk-n-Talks). I am also a Health & Behavior Coach, an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, a Certified Primal Health Coach, a Certified AIP (Autoimmune Paleo) Coach, as well as a Mental Health Consultant to various companies, including several Skilled Nursing Facilities in Southern California. I have presented internationally, provide wellness programs and lunch & learns for companies/corporations as well as first responders.
My specialties include adult and geropsychology, individuals dealing with auto-immune disease, chronic disease, health concerns, trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, cancer, and end of life issues. I provide training for nursing staff as well as coordinate treatment plans with physicians to provide patients with a complete and broad approach towards achieving total well-being. With my unique combination of Psychology, Health & Behavior Coaching I can help my clients find inner peace and happiness, but also expand their perspectives to achieve more than they ever thought possible.
I loved learning about the mind/body so much that after receiving my Doctorate in Psychology, I went on to acquire a Post-Doctoral Master of Science in Psychopharmacology to better understand how chemicals affect the mind. I continue to obtain and acquire knowledge and certifications for health & psychology. My other motto is: "The more tools you have on your tool belt, the better superhero you can be."
With my current certifications and education I not only assist patients in improving their mental health, but create concrete, achievable goals for personal fulfillment in their careers, families, health and personal relationships. I try as much as I can to practice what I preach, hence I practice mindfulness and meditation, cooking nutrient dense meals, spending time with my adorable co-"Dog"tor, Chicken the Dog, and going into nature. I particularly love going for "Walk-n-Talk" sessions with my clients. Due to my own battles with auto-immune disease, I particularly like helping others with auto-immune diseases regain their joy and vitality for life. I look forward to standing (or walking) side-by-side with you and helping you achieve love, health, and joy.
